BUREAU of LANDMANAGEMENT Tucson Field Office

SPH Large Tree Limb Removal

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tucson Field Office is soliciting a tree cutting service to remove large dead/decaying branches or stems primarily from a large cottonwood tree located next to the San Pedro House, a historic ranch house restored by the Friends of the San Pedro River, which is used today as a bookstore and gift shop. If not trimmed, the branches could fall and damage the roof, structure, concrete picnic tables, or passing pedestrians. Of secondary concern is a nearby cottonwood tree that was partially felled by a windstorm. There are a couple large branches that need to be cut and dropped to the ground, to mitigate the attractive nuisance. Some visitors desire to climb the tree and take selfies, even though a barrier fence surrounds it. Contractor will be responsible for all tree branch removal and disposal of the first tree. The premise is at the San Pedro House National Conservation Area (SPRNCA).

BLM is working toward the preservation of the SPRNCA location and recreational opportunities they offer to the public.

SCOPE OF WORK

Provide travel, labor, tree cutting and removal within the deliverable time frame. The job is to:

Trim/prune a large Cottonwood tree by removing hazard branches throughout the tree, which includes those hanging over the San Pedro House and pedestrian walking areas.

Due to the tree height and size of large branches, some will have to be rigged with rope, cut in smaller pieces, and lowered to the ground. Operations should be conducted in a safe manner, to avoid any damage to structures, landscaping, and people.

Cut one or two large branches from secondary tree and drop to the ground, to mitigate attractive nuisance. (See attached photos for more information.)
