About this file
This is a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the delivery of riprap materials to North Cascades National Park in Stehekin, Washington.
The National Park Service requires delivery of 2,000 tons of Class D riprap to a gravel pit located approximately five miles from the landing at the north end of Lake Chelan. Contractors must submit separate lump sum quotes for two line items: (1) Class D riprap supplied in 250-ton increments at a total of 2,000 tons, and (2) all transportation and consolidation costs from the quarry site to the gravel pit. Quotes may be submitted on either the SF1449 form or company letterhead. The riprap must conform to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Specification 9-13 standards and meet specific material requirements including minimum apparent specific gravity of 2.50, maximum absorption of 4.2%, and minimum coarse durability index of 50. Class D riprap is defined by size specifications in WSDOT 9-13.4(2), with approximate sizes ranging from 54 inches down to 20 inches with specified percent passing requirements. Delivery must be coordinated with the NPS point of contact (Aaron Robinson, 509-699-2080 Ext. 15), with exact delivery dates and load sizes requiring prior coordination. The delivery location presents significant logistical constraints, as the road system in Stehekin is accessible only by boat or aircraft, and all equipment must cross Harlequin Bridge, which has specified weight limits. Each delivered load must be accompanied by a duplicate delivery ticket showing date, product, weight (certified scale), and delivery location. Payment will be based on actual quantities delivered and accepted by NPS staff via PDF invoice submitted through the IPP website, with monthly payment requests.
