Statement of Work Summary

This Statement of Work describes hazardous waste removal services required by Yosemite National Park from its maintenance warehouse in El Portal, California. The contractor must sort, segregate, package, label, document, load, and placard various hazardous waste materials in accordance with state and federal regulations. The contractor is responsible for providing all personnel, labor, transportation, test equipment, packaging materials, and documentation necessary for legal hazardous waste transport and disposal. Work must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The National Park Service will provide an on-site escort during the packaging and pickup day.

The waste inventory includes approximately 30 different hazardous material categories totaling significant quantities: lead debris (8 drums), paint thinners and flammable paints (multiple drums), acetone, oils and absorbents, fluorescent tubes (3,000 feet), lead acid batteries (2 pallets plus 1 drum), mixed batteries requiring sorting and taping (3 tons), MAP gas cylinders (5 units), aerosol cans, fire extinguishers, non-PCB ballasts, bark beetle pesticide, and a damaged 600-cubic-inch propane tank, among others. The period of performance is February 2 through February 26, 2026, with pickup hours limited to 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Hauling restrictions prohibit vehicles over 45 feet and require one-way controlled traffic for all other vehicles 20 miles east of Mariposa due to rockslide repairs. Highway 41 to Wawona may close during inclement weather. Coordination with park contacts is critical to ensure site access.
