About this file

This is an amendment to the Period of Performance for the Badlands National Park Cedar Lodge Road rehabilitation project, issued by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Midwest Region (Contracting Officer: Joseph Kirk). The work is divided into two phases scheduled around visitor occupancy at nearby cabins.

Phase 1 (Fall 2026) consists of ditch and berm work spanning 81 calendar days from August 17, 2026, through November 6, 2026 (or later). Phase 1A (Fall 2026) includes road and grading work in the cabin area for 18 calendar days from October 19, 2026, through November 6, 2026 (or later). Phase 2 (Spring 2027) covers any remaining work with 39 calendar days allocated from March 1, 2027, through April 9, 2027. Ditch and berm work is restricted to times when cabins are occupied and cannot begin before 9 a.m. to avoid disturbing visitors. Road and grading work around the cabins is limited to periods when cabins are unoccupied (after October 15, 2026, and before April 9, 2027) unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties. All work must be completed within 120 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed start date. The government anticipates completion in Phase 1; however, if winter weather disrupts construction, remaining work will restart in Spring 2027 with the exact restart date to be mutually agreed upon.

This Amendment to Period of Performance Replaces the Period of Performance narrative found in Specifications, Part 1-General-Item 1-1.2(D)

Work shall be completed within 120 calendar days of the start date provided on the Notice to Proceed.

Work is anticipated to start on August 17, 2026, with work ending November 6, 2026, to account for the upcoming winter months. The remaining work will restart in Spring 2027 if needed. The exact date will be agreed upon by the government and contractor. Ditch and berm work will be limited directly behind the cabins when they are occupied with no work starting before 9am if it could disturb visitors. Road and grading work around the cabins will be limited to the time they are unoccupied (after Oct. 15th 2026 and before April 9th 2027) unless otherwise agreed upon by the government and contractor.
