Work for Item Two (2) regarding the 8.76 acres across four individual sites includes foliar herbicidal treatment only of a specified concentration of glyphosate, mixed with non-ionic surfactant and blue dye with ground sprayer equipment. Apply thoroughly on leaves just to the point of drip. The blue dye should cover the leaves and be detected visually after dried. Aerial spraying will not be approved. Target species are Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea), invasive Empress Trees (Paulownia tomentosa), Chinese privet (Ligustrum sinense), Chinese Wisteria (Wisteria Chinensis) and English Ivy (Hedera helix. A. LOCATIONS

ITEM ONE (1) (2.54 acre site adjacent to Rev War Museum)

Colonial Parkway & Route 238:

Primarily 99% bamboo with small to large native trees interspersed, this 6.1-acre site is located on a large flat to gentle terrace that meets a 30-35% slope leading to a marsh. There is a section across the marsh where individual bamboo plants have started. The bamboo in this area is of medium to light density. Work to remove and treat invasives shall only be performed within the NPS owned 2.54 acre portion.

Route 238 is a VDOT road and the contractor will need to coordinate with the state to put up traffic control signs during the work period. The site can be accessed along Route 238. No access is available by vehicle along the Colonial Parkway.

Due to the low to medium density and maturity of the bamboo, removal can be done both by hand and by large forestry mulching machines, if the existing native trees are not mulched or damaged. The few (<20) bamboo on the other side of the ravine and marsh must be accessed by foot and cut by saw or hand, cut the stem as close to the ground as possible to avoid tripping.

Most of the site is flat however a portion contains steep slopes up to >35%.

Moore House:

The 1.3-acre Moore House site is located just north of the intersection of Moore House Rd and Ballard St in Yorktown, VA, to the west of the historic Moore House structure.

Cornwallis Cave:

The 1.85-acre Cornwallis Cave site is located near the intersection of Comte De Grasse St and Water St in-between Water St and the historic Dudley Digges house in Yorktown, VA. This area has uneven terrain and slopes up to >35%.

Windmill Point:
