About this file
This document is a Brand Name Justification form for the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. The procurement involves specific brand-name supplies for a Salinity Intrusion Model, including Ameristar urethane products (Aeromantic 520 and Brushgrade 522) and high-performance computer components from manufacturers like AMD, ASUS, Western Digital, and Crucial. The total procurement is a firm-fixed price contract with a 30-calendar day delivery period, funded through Civil Works Construction funds. The justification cites unique technical requirements necessitating specific brand-name items, such as compatibility with existing model systems and watertight specifications for the laboratory's patented model construction process.
The solicitation is being conducted under FAR Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures, with the contracting officer determining the anticipated cost will be fair and reasonable. The NAICS code is 332510 (Hardware Manufacturing), and the items are considered commercial products. The procurement is being handled by Christine Shuck, the Procuring Contracting Officer, with distribution limited to federal agencies only. The document emphasizes that while brand-specific, the items are commercially available, and the agency anticipates potential competition among manufacturers or sellers of these brand-name solutions.
