About this file
The file is a PowerPoint presentation from Tucson Water detailing the Advanced Water Purification (AWP) Demonstration Facility project in Tucson, Arizona. The project involves constructing a 2.5 million gallon per day demonstration facility at the Agua Nueva Water Reclamation Facility, with construction tasks including a new public tour entrance, visitor center, existing filter building upgrades, advanced treatment equipment installation, and site improvements. The conceptual design is complete, with a planned construction schedule that can begin earlier than initially proposed. The facility aims to verify treatment performance, support operator training, and serve as a community engagement center, with a goal of being fully operational by September 2027.
The project is funded through a United States Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) grant, with an estimated total construction cost of $10 million, with the conceptual design suggesting a project cost of approximately $5.3 million and a contingency range between $1.6 million and $8 million. The procurement includes Small Business Enterprise (SBE) program provisions, with specific requirements for subcontractor involvement. The recommended treatment approach is a reverse osmosis-based treatment train featuring microfiltration/ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet advanced oxidation process, and optional granular activated carbon treatment. Potential cost savings of approximately $350,000 may be achieved if Tucson Water purchases major equipment directly, with pre-packaged treatment equipment including pilot skids for various filtration and purification processes.
