EAFB-001 TITLE: 96th Civil Engineering Group (CEG) Smart Lockers System

TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Smart Lockers

ACQUISITION PROGRAM: 96 Civil Engineering Group (CEG) Smart Lockers System

OBJECTIVE: The 96th Civil Engineering Group needs a system that allows airmen on Eglin Air

Force Base to pick up their package at any time of day from a secure locker system that can accept packages from any retailer or carrier. The overarching goal is to increase the quality of life for airmen living in the dorms.

96 Civil Engineering Group/CEIHD is pursuing a solution that the submittal firm substantiates a present ability to:

1) Support up to 730 Airman

2) Allow 24/7 access to lockers

3) Be outdoor weather resistant to withstand up to hurricane level elements

4) Provide lighting for nighttime visibility

5) Use climate control to regulate temperature of storage system

6) Utilize a cellular data/wireless connection to function as a standalone system

7) Implement touchscreen input system to

8) Accept mail from any retailer or carrier

9) Notify residents via email/text to pick up package

10) Add/remove residents from system

11) Track locker usage and activity

12) Provide training, maintenance services, and 24/7 phone support for minimum 1 year

13) Provide factory included warranty

14) Provide replacement and spare parts for minimum 1 year

15) Conform to rectangular shape under Bldg. 854/855 pavilion (Figure 1)

16) Accept electrical power from designated site

The existing system requires carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. to go to 10 three-floor dormitories throughout the campus to deliver the package to the front door of the resident. The carrier scans the package and leaves the package at the resident’s door with no notice that the package was delivered. The existing process presents concern with the potential for stolen/misplaced mail, especially during the holiday season where multiple boxes may be left outside for an extended period with the potential to being exposed to inclement weather which can damage the item. In the existing system, once delivery occurs, there is no accountability for the package.
