About this file
This production design document outlines exhibit plans and components for the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site. It includes floorplans, graphic layouts, schedules for electronic programs, artifacts, and custom elements to be fabricated for nine exhibit scenes. Key details include exhibits focused on Woodson's life and career in the lobby, introduction area, and three floors of the historic house. The legacy room outlines interactive touchscreens exploring the impact of Woodson's work. Accompanying schedules provide specifications for over 200 reproduction artifacts, graphics, furniture props, and electronic equipment to bring the exhibits to life. Fabrication of these custom elements is the subject of the related federal contract opportunity to support completion of the exhibit design.

PDFs not for production
The vast majority of files are submited as ready-for-production packaged INDD files. A small portion is not ready for production due to in-progress images or content.
Files that still have missing production images or content for review are not to be used for production. They are identified in three ways:
• The hard drive of production Graphic Layouts includes these files as PDF only (not packaged INDD files) to indicate that the file is not final for production and is for review only.
• These files are also marked in the GL Schedule column A as In-Progress/ Not for Production.
• The PDF includes a note in this manner
Please note: PDII Final Exhibit Documents are due March 19, 2021. By that date, H+R will provide any remaining GLs, including all necessary images and any corrections required by NPS and ASALH review of files submitted with this deliverable.
Graphic package notes
Reference Elevations
This book includes reference graphic elevations to provide an overview of the exhibit’s components and positioning of elements. Specifically, this book includes a guide to the placement of the 02 Lobby’s elements, including its many bookspines and 03.07 House Tour Library book graphics.
Elevations are reference only, please refer to production GL files for all content and design.
Graphic Layout production files
The PDII submittal also includes production Graphic Layout files, which are delivered as individual, packaged INDD files, via an external hard drive shipped to:
Vanessa Smiley Harpers Ferry Center 67 Mather Place Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
FedEx Tracking Number: 772766743780
H+R will also continue to hold a copy of each GL file.
Please note: H+R requests that all copy, content, graphic treatments, and images be reviewed and commented upon via the production Graphic Layouts only.
Graphics included in this package are accurate representations, but are for reference only. We urge that final approval to produce is made only in relation to individual graphic production files.

Production image status
Please see the IM Schedule for the status of each image, including the Rights, Licenses, Permissions (RLP) tab that documents the research and inquiry process to date. Paperwork for each image’s associated license or permission agreement and cost will be submitted at the end of acquisition to provide a complete set.
Substitutions:
Some images were found to be unavailable for the foreseeable future due to collection closures, low quality of file available from the source, or because of prohibitive licensing requirements. They have been substituted with interpretively and visually equivalent items. New images include:
• IM-01.04.003 Boston Massacre
• IM-02.03-018 Baptism on the Mississippi River
• IM-02.04-013 Magic Drum
• IM-02.04-014 Going to the Feast
• IM-02.05-004 History play
• IM-02.06-008 James E. Stamps
• IM-05.01-009 Poetry Hour
In-progress: Images en route
The majority of images not yet in hand are expected to be delivered with no issue, but we have experienced some delay in receiving files or securing written permission (in part due to closures and limited staff capability).
They include a large set from Moorland-Spingarn and those requiring NPS permission to use, which is in progress now. H+R will continue to pursue the images, and will provide completed production GL’s when they are in hand.
In-progress: New photography
Since the SD phase, the project has called for a set of new photographs to be taken. Please see Book 2 Content: New Photography. These images can only be taken following other tasks, like object conservation or the completion of the Office Home exterior, so these images are likewise in-progress.
Files requiring new photography are submitted as PDF only, and marked in-progress not for production. When the image is taken, the image should be processed and updated in the associated GL to finalize the production file.
File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
