About this file

This document package includes an accessioned objects schedule and details for a federal contract opportunity. The schedule lists over 70 artifacts from the Carter G. Woodson collection with descriptions, measurements, condition notes, and mount requirements. The contract opportunity is for fabrication of exhibits at the Carter G. Woodson home and seeks fabrication services including casework, graphics, and mounts. Key agencies involved are the Department of the Interior National Park Service and the African American Smithsonian Related Museums. The schedule provides specifications for artifact mounts and placements within exhibit cases to ensure proper support and display. Mounting methods such as stem mounts, ledgers, and spacers are described. Environmental and security requirements are also outlined.

This medal has no ribbon, and both sides need to be seen. Use a thin brass strap to encircle the rim of the coin and 4 tiny clasps clasping both sides of the disc at the equivalent of 10, 2, 4 and 8 oclock. Solder this strap to a stem mount and mount the back edge 1.5" forward of the artifact label, seating the stem into the label panel. The disk's faces are perpendicular to the face of the label, like its a coin "on edge" so both faces are equally visible.

See Dorfman cutsheets for Ethafoam Male Body Form and accessories. The intent is to feature the full business suit with as little of the mount as possible visible: no head, no hands, no neck, scooped low enough to mimize the upper chest showing. The pole supports are intended to NOT penetrate the shoes, but "bracket to back of calf" so shoes can appear beneath pant cuffs as they "naturally" would.
