About this file

This document is an Attachment I specification for steer axle tires, issued by a municipal government for tire procurement for refuse/sanitation and extreme service vehicles. The specification details requirements for new tire purchases, mandating TIER I PREMIUM TIRES from select manufacturers (Goodyear/Dunlop, Michelin/BF Goodrich, or Bridgestone/Firestone) for specific tire sizes including 11R22.5, 315/80R22.5, 385/65R22.5, and 425/65R22.5. The document outlines comprehensive technical requirements including tire construction standards, such as radial and tubeless design, minimum three steel belt construction, full width protector ply, side wall wear indicators, and curb guards.

The specification emphasizes extreme service application tires with detailed performance criteria, including optimized tread compounds, rectangular/rounded bead structures, and tires designed for mixed and severe on/off road service. Specific manufacturer model numbers are pre-approved, with load range and tread depth minimums specified for each tire size. Suppliers may be required to submit proof of specification compliance, and any exceptions must be pre-approved by the city with an accompanying exemption letter. The document does not include pricing information but provides exhaustive technical specifications to ensure high-quality, durable tire procurement for municipal fleet operations.
