The City of Long Beach applies five extra credit percentage points to all qualifying local businesses, defined as companies maintaining their principal place of business in a fixed location within City limits and possessing a current City business license and seller's permit if applicable. An additional five percentage points are awarded to local businesses operating from a brick and mortar or non-residential commercial location, for a potential total of ten bonus points. Businesses claiming local preference must certify eligibility by selecting "yes" on Attachment C and submit copies of their current City of Long Beach business license showing a place of business within City limits and a current seller's permit (sales tax permit) if applicable. Applicants must also identify the address associated with their business license and indicate whether the location is a brick and mortar/commercial/non-residential location or a residential location. The form requires the bidder's name, signature, and date. Failure to complete this section by selecting either "yes" or "no" results in ineligibility for the preference consideration.
