1. INTRODUCTION
This Specification defines the requirements for the design, procurement, materials, fabrication, assembly, testing, and shipment of a Ventilated Modular Wet Cleaning Bench (also referred to as the
Bench) that will provide the capability to perform cleaning of equipment using chemicals and mechanical processes while protecting the worker from chemical fumes which will be exhausted via the facility exhaust system. The ORNL facility exhaust system is a VAV (Variable Air Volume) system. The Bench will utilize moveable sashes to limit chemical fumes escaping into the surrounding room while providing access for workers to clean parts and equipment and provides flow alarm(s) if exhaust ventilation is not adequate. The Bench also provides for the collection of any rinse water in suitable containers, provision for future fire sprinkler installation, lighting for the interior work area, 120V 60Hz convenience outlets, compressed air connections, process water connections and overhead exhaust connections. The Bench has been conceptually designed to fit in a designated space and footprint in a facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), hereafter referred to as the Company. Chemicals anticipated to be used in the Bench include typical laboratory chemicals such as detergents, acetone, alcohol, nitric acid, etc.
2. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
The Ventilated modular Wet Cleaning Bench shall conform to the requirements in the following document list. Additional requirements are found in the General Project Specification, EX-00-
ES00086. In the event of a conflict between the General Specification, Technical Specification, Statement of Work, or between either of these documents and a requirement in a specified or applicable code or standard, the Seller shall notify the Company’s TPO and PO. The TPO and PO will determine which document takes precedence and advise the Seller accordingly.
