About this file
Attachment B is a detailed access badge process document from Brevard County, Florida, specifically outlining requirements for contractor personnel accessing County facilities. The document describes a comprehensive background check and credentialing procedure for contractors working in Brevard County government buildings, which involves fingerprinting through the Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) training, and obtaining an official County photo ID access badge.
The access badge process requires contractors to contact the Public Works Department/Facilities to initiate background checks, complete fingerprinting at a BCSO precinct with a government-issued photo ID, and undergo CJIS training after a cleared background check. The process anticipates a 2-3 week turn-around time, mandates immediate reporting of lost badges (with a $25 replacement fee), and requires contractors to return badges if an employee is terminated, reassigned, or takes a leave of absence. Only employees who have completed and passed the background check and CJIS training are permitted to perform services, ensuring a standardized security protocol for contractor access to County facilities.

Attachment B Access Badge Process
The Contractor’s staff must be approved prior to working in any County facility. Background checks will be conducted via fingerprinting through the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) on behalf of the County, BCSO, and
State Attorney’s Office. Fingerprinting costs are covered by the County.
1. Contractors are responsible for contacting the Public Works Department/Facilities to obtain the necessary forms for background checks. Please call 321-633-2050, in person at 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Room A-207, Viera
Government Center or email: Facilities.Request@brevardfl.gov .
2. Fingerprinting shall only take place at a BSCO Precinct. For convenience, a Precinct is located at the Viera
Government Center in Building E.
3. A Government Issued Photo ID is required for fingerprinting.
4. If the background check is cleared (approved), then Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) training must be completed. Access to the CJIS training is only provided via an email link sent to the individual through BCSO.
5. Once all criteria have been met, the personnel will be provided instructions on how to obtain their County photo
I.D. access badge.
6. Due to the time required to process background checks, the Contractor should allow 2-3 weeks turn-around time.
7. Any badge that has been lost or misplaced must be reported immediately to the County.
If lost, a replacement fee of $25.00 shall be required to print a new badge.
8. Should an employee take a leave of absence, be re-assigned to another contract, or terminated, notification shall be made promptly to the County. The Contractor must return the County photo I.D. access badge to the County.
9. Only the Contractor’s employees who have completed and passed the required background check (fingerprints and
CJIS) shall be used to perform services.
