About this file
This is an Attachment A requirements document for Montana State University Bozeman's comprehensive snow removal and ice control services contract across multiple campus locations. The scope encompasses four primary service areas: Commuter Lots, Residential Lots, Family/Graduate Housing Streets, Parking Garage, and Museum of the Rockies. Snow removal operations are required between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily, with extended hours on weekends and during scheduled events as needed. The Contractor must respond to one-inch snowfall accumulation throughout drive lanes and parking stalls by monitoring snow conditions continuously. Traction control materials must be applied during service hours as conditions require. The Museum of the Rockies requires exception handling with trace-level snowfall response to ensure 7:00 AM daily opening accessibility. MSU crews will handle plowing and traction control between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Equipment used within the Parking Garage is limited to a maximum height of 6 feet, 11 inches due to roof clearance restrictions, with all snow disposal directed through the designated West Snow Chute only.
Snow hauling services and snow melter assistance shall be performed at the direction of MSU's Director of Facilities Services or designee at any time throughout the winter season. The Contractor may be requested to provide loaders and qualified operators to feed snow into the university's snow melter equipment, which shall be operated solely by authorized MSU representatives; contractor assistance is billed at contracted hourly equipment and operator rates. Pre-treatment applications must be performed when weather forecasts indicate a 70 percent or greater probability of precipitation with temperatures remaining below freezing for four hours or longer. Bare pavement operations during Winter Break in residential lots and snow scraping/hauling from Family/Graduate Housing Streets require coordination with MSU Parking Services and MSU Facilities Services. Skid steer snow removal services shall be provided upon university request and compensated at applicable rates identified in the Equipment and Application Rates Table. No undisclosed costs are reimbursable, and all pricing must be fully transparent.
