About this file
These are project specifications prepared by Johnson + Bailey Architects P.C. for a new monument sign project at the Murfreesboro Airport in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, dated August 20, 2025. The project scope includes obtaining a sign construction permit, staking the sign location, installing secondary power service from an existing transformer, constructing a new masonry sign base with brick veneer (owner-provided) and cast stone (contractor-furnished), and installing a fully designed base-mounted aluminum sign system. The specifications cover multiple technical divisions including general requirements, masonry, and specialties such as etched plaques and exterior aluminum signage.
The project will involve precise construction standards, with specific requirements for materials like stainless steel etched plaques, aluminum signage, and masonry components. The sign system is designed to be modular, frameless, and engineered to withstand 100mph wind loads, with options for illumination and changeable letter panels. The specifications detail technical requirements such as material composition (e.g., ASTM B221-90 Alloy 6063-T6 aluminum), coating specifications (2-part acrylic polyurethane paint), and installation guidelines. The project includes provisions for warranty (5-year manufacturer's limited warranty), specific installation techniques, and cleaning protocols, with an emphasis on precision, durability, and aesthetic consistency with the City of Murfreesboro's branding guidelines.
