About this file
This is a Technical Specification Sheet for the Siemens TNM® 834 Controller, a compact embedded Internet of Things (IoT) controller designed for smaller applications and plant control. The TNM-834 is a bundled system combining a specially licensed TNM-8000 controller with an IO-R-34 remote 34-point input/output module. The controller operates on the Niagara 4 Framework, providing integrated control, supervision, data logging, alarming, scheduling, and network management with web-based access via Ethernet, wireless LAN, or Internet connectivity. The system features a TI AM3352 1000 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB removable micro-SD card storage, dual isolated RS-485 ports, dual 10/100 MB Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n), USB connectivity, 24 VAC/DC power supply, and secure boot capability. The licensing model allows 0 to 5 device licenses in increments of one, with the bundle including licensing for a 16 input/output device count.
The IO-R-34 remote module provides 16 universal inputs (supporting Type 3 thermistors, 0-100kΩ, 0-10VDC, and 0-20mA with external resistor), 10 Form A relay outputs rated 24VAC @ 0.5A, and 8 analog outputs (0-10VDC), with RS-485 communication and ability to power up to 4 additional IO-R-16 modules. The TNM-834 supports maximum expansion of four communication modules (combinations of RS-485, RS-232, and LON modules) and can accommodate up to 8 IO-R-34 modules or 14 IO-R-16 modules for expanded input/output capacity. Both units operate across -20°C to 60°C with 5% to 95% relative humidity, feature 10-year MTTF reliability, and comply with UL 916, CE, FCC, cUL, and CCC standards. The specification sheet includes detailed product ordering information for the base controller, device licenses, expansion modules, power supplies, and optional accessories.

TNM® 834 Controller
Description
The Siemens TNM® 834 is a compact, embedded IoT (Internet of Things) controller bundled from a special licensed TNM-8000 and an IO-R-34 remote 34 IO module for smaller applications and plant control.
Based on the TNM-8000 it includes Internet connectivity and Web serving capability providing integrated control, supervision, data logging, alarming, scheduling and network management. It streams data and rich graphical displays to a standard Web browser via an Ethernet or wireless LAN, or remotely over the Internet.
Features
The licensing model for the TNM 834 controller is simplified and features standard drivers.
Special licensing allows 0 to 5 device licenses and increments of 1 device.
Bundle includes one TNM-834 (TNM-8000 with special license) and one IO-R-34 module.
Operates with Niagara 4, the latest version of the Niagara Framework®, for optimum performance in larger facilities.
Licensed for small systems and plant control.
Niagara 4 Supervisors can be used with TNM 834 controllers to aggregate information, including real-time data, history and alarms, to create a single and unified application.

Remote IO modules
Included with the TNM-834 is licensing for an 16 IO device count.
- 1 IO-R-16 = device count 1
- 1 IO-R-34 = device count 2 (one module included)
Therefore, the maximum Expansion is
- 7 IO-R-34 ((7+1) * device count 2) or
- 14 IO-R-16 ((14+2)* device count 1) or a combination
- E.g. 4 IO-R-34 and 8 IO-R-16 (4* device count 2 + 8* device count 1 = device count 16)
