Course Mission Statement:
The intent of the course is to provide a formal live firefighting training for Shipboard Emergency Team members attending as cohesive units or as Damage Control Training Teams (DCTT). While individuals perform their assigned Shipboard Emergency Team or DCTT positions, the teams will be expected to problem solve through the application of damage control/firefighting principles, rules, and concepts during a live fire scenario. Teams will be observed by SWOS instructors and
COURSE DATA (Continued) critiqued for effectiveness. The course will reinforce practical skills while performing as an integrated fire party team. Completion of this course will meet the intent of OPNAVINST 3541.6 Level III requirements.
Purpose of Course:
To provide instruction to personnel assigned to a Shipboard Emergency Team including positions such as On-Scene Leader, Team Leader, Locker Leader, Investigator, Nozzleman, Hoseman, Plotter, Phone Talker, Messenger, Accessman/Boundaryman, Plugman, Active/Post Fire Desmoking, and Electrical/Mechanical Isolation. Teams will be observed by the instructors and critiqued for effectiveness. Team will be expected to comprehend and apply firefighting principles, rules, and concepts; possess the ability to solve problems while performing in their assigned positions in a live fire.
