Survey Monuments Attachment

If checked, the following survey monuments will be installed with this land survey contract.

_____ If the boundary corner location is in an area prone to flooding or with a loosely compacted soil type (i.e. sand), NPS requires a minimum ⅝” diameter rebar by 30” long with 2” metal cap in a poured concrete base. The cap will be set flush in the concrete. The concrete base will be 4”-6” in diameter and will extend 12”-18” below the surface surrounding the rebar and base of cap.

__X__ Corner monuments will be a minimum 2” diameter flared or flanged stainless steel pipe, 30” long with integrated metal cap (brass or aluminum). The monument will have either an integrated magnet or a separate underground survey magnet deposited at the base (DEEP1 or equivalent).

_____ All corner monuments found or set shall be referenced by at least two accessories, preferably at locations which create a near 90 degree angle with the corner monument. Wooded areas will utilize trees larger than 4 inches D.B.H. as accessories and will include driving a nail and washer near the center base of the tree as measured perpendicular to the corner monument.

Trees will be located on federal land and should be within 100 feet of the corner monument.

In areas where trees are not available or impractical to use, ½ inch rebar, 30 inches long, with a 1” diameter metal cap stamped “RM” will be installed at a reasonable distance from the corner monument on federal land. All accessories will be described fully on the plat (tree diameter and species, cap type, rebar length set into the ground, full cap markings, etc).
