About this file
The Pre-Bid RFI Response Letter is issued by Perkins&Will for the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) Mendez Elementary Replacement project. The document details a competitive sealed proposal (CSP) for a complete campus replacement, with bids due on July 16, 2024, through BidNetDirect. The project involves full demolition of the existing campus, with construction expected to begin in Fall 2024 and be completed by March 2026. The project will include abatement of hazardous materials prior to demolition, and some existing campus materials like brick will be salvaged for site pavers.
The total construction budget is $57,056,500, and the district has already procured geotechnical, third-party testing, and structural services during previous board meetings in 2024. The project will utilize rooftop cooling units and standardized security systems. The district does not have a dedicated IT contractor and will be seeking proposals through a competitive sealed proposal process. The project is contingent upon approval from the SMCISD Board of Directors and obtaining a building permit from the City of San Marcos.
