About this file
This document is a comprehensive electrical specification for the Rexford Bench Complex project at Kootenai National Forest, containing multiple sections covering low-voltage electrical systems, grounding, raceways, lighting controls, panelboards, metering, wiring devices, fuses, enclosed switches, controllers, and LED interior lighting.
The specification requires copper building wire (600 V or less), metal-clad cable Type MC, and connectors/splices/terminations from manufacturers including Alpha Wire Company, American Bare Conductor, Belden Inc., Cerro Wire LLC, and Encore Wire Corporation. Grounding and bonding systems must comply with UL 467 and use manufacturers such as Burndy, ERICO International Corporation, and Harger Lightning & Grounding. Raceways and boxes must be sourced from manufacturers including AFC Cable Systems, Allied Tube & Conduit, and various NEMA-rated enclosures for indoor and outdoor locations. Panelboards are specified from SIEMENS Industry and Square D, with short-circuit ratings of 10,000 A rms minimum for 240 V or less circuits and 14,000 A rms for above 240 V and less than 600 V circuits. Lighting control devices (occupancy sensors, daylighting controls, dimmers) are specified as nLight by Acuity Brands with a two-year warranty from Substantial Completion. Wiring devices include hospital-grade receptacles, GFCI receptacles, and toggle switches from manufacturers such as Eaton, Hubbell, and Leviton. LED interior lighting fixtures require ENERGY STAR certification, 50,000-hour lamp life to L70, minimum 80 CRI, 3500 K CCT, and dimmability from 100 to 1 percent. Electricity metering equipment must comply with UL 1244 and ANSI C12.20, with 0.2 percent accuracy for billing meters. Field quality control includes acceptance testing per NETA ATS-2013, thermal imaging, insulation resistance testing, and infrared scanning. The specification mandates coordination with the owner's metering representative before installation and requires seismic qualification for luminaires and electrical equipment per ASCE/SEI 7. All electrical components must be listed and labeled by a qualified testing agency per NFPA 70.
