Guy Tension Record

Ft. Riley Kansas NEC 7/14/2021

Tower Height / Type 415 Ambient Temp

EIA-222-G section 13.3.2 states that the maximum deviation from the design initial tension shall be (i) ±10% for guys up to and including 1 in. [25mm] in diameter and (ii) ±5% for guys greater than 1in. [25mm] in diameter, of the specified design initial tension at an anchorage, corrected for the ambient temperature. Standard industry practice assumes initial guy design tensions at 10% of cable breaking strength. This chart's GOOD/MARGINAL/FAIL threshold values reflect the guy tensions with respect to 10% of breaking strength. Actual initial design tensions may differ; consult original tower erection drawings for actual design tensions.
