About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the remodel project for the Spangdahlem Base Library, which aims to renovate the interior facility furnishings to a Modern Bookstore Layout (MBL). The project requires a design/build contractor to provide new library furnishings, including shelving for various collections (totaling over 20,000 items), a circulation desk, computer lab, study rooms, children's and juvenile areas, seating, signage, and staff offices. The library's collection spans multiple categories such as fiction, non-fiction, audiobooks, graphic novels, and media formats.
The project scope includes detailed design, furniture selection, and installation within Building 148 at Spangdahlem Air Base. The installation is expected to take no more than 10 business days, occurring during standard business hours (8AM to 5PM, Monday-Friday). Contractors must provide specific design layouts, product specifications, and ensure all furnishings are library-grade, high-traffic compatible, and maintain a cohesive theme. The library representative will provide final color and finish selections, and the contractor must accommodate existing furniture and equipment where possible. The project has a specific list of acceptable and unacceptable purchases, excluding items like carpeting, paint, and computer equipment.
