About this file

This is an Internal Air Transport Certification document issued by the Air Force Logistics Center (AFLCMC/EZFC) for the Oshkosh Striker 1500 ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting) Truck, dated 26 September 2014 (Revision 1, superseding the certification from 16 July 2010). The certification authorizes air transport of this commercial two-axle fire truck on USAF C-17 and C-5 aircraft. The vehicle has approximate dimensions of 425" L × 122" W × 140" H with a gross weight of 39,540 lbs and a GVWR of 62,000 lbs. The front and rear axles weigh 15,230 lbs and 24,310 lbs respectively, each with a 31,000 lbs rating.

Conditions of certification specify a maximum gross vehicle weight for air transport of 45,000 lbs with axle limits of 24,800 lbs per axle. Item preparation requires the vehicle's water and foam tanks to be empty, and all hazardous materials must be prepared and certified per TM 38-250/AFMAN 24-204(I), with hazardous material authorization as the responsibility of AFMC/A4RT. The vehicle can be loaded using standard vehicle general loading procedures and may be driven or backed into the aircraft. Restraint requirements mandate compliance with MIL-STD-1791 standards (3G forward, 1.5G aft and lateral, 2G up, and 4.5G down load capability). The truck includes four tiedown provisions rated at 68,000 lbs each and frame structure members that require 25K chains for additional restraint. Distribution of this certification is required to the ATOC representative, aircraft loadmaster, AMC/A3V, AMC/A4T, and SDDC TEA prior to loading.
