About this file

This file is a comprehensive specification document for a roofing and facade renovation project at the Northport VA Medical Center in New York. The project, designated as VA Project #632-16-103, involves replacing roofs and repairing facades for Buildings 61 and 62, with work to be completed in multiple phases. The scope includes removing existing roofing materials, addressing potential asbestos and lead-based paint, installing new roofing systems, and performing exterior wall repairs and restoration.

Key technical specifications include using cool roof council approved roofing materials, performing stone cleaning and restoration, replacing wood fascia and gutters, and tuckpointing limestone surfaces. The project has multiple deduct alternate options that allow the VA to potentially reduce costs by using standard materials or performing partial repairs instead of full replacements. The solicitation requires detailed submittals, includes strict safety and environmental control requirements, and mandates comprehensive documentation of work procedures, materials, and quality control measures. The total project duration is estimated at 308 calendar days, with preliminary work and staging expected to take up to 4 months and construction phases lasting approximately 3.5 months each.
