About this file

This specification document outlines the passenger elevator modernization requirements for the State Capitol Building in Denver, Colorado, prepared by the State of Colorado Office of the State Architect under Project 2025-088M24. The modernization project addresses two passenger elevators serving four floors (Ground, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) with a travel distance of approximately 60 feet. The work encompasses comprehensive upgrades including replacement of original Otis gearless DC hoist machines with new permanent magnet AC gearless machines, installation of an MCE iBox Two Car Group microprocessor control system, and implementation of new ReGen VVVF motor drive units with transformers as required. Additional components include new Hollister-Whitney governors, GAL hoistway door equipment, TLS limit switches, Elsco roller guides, new car door operators with bronze door panels, and updated signal fixtures with A17.1 2019-compliant controls. The specification requires retention of existing bronze hoistway door panels, car and counterweight buffers, and car safeties where feasible, while modernizing all mechanical and electrical systems to current code standards.

The specifications detail extensive modernization across machine room, hoistway, car, cab, pit, and signal fixture components, with provisions for dual hall pushbutton stations at each floor, firefighters' key switch at the first floor, directional hall lanterns, and emergency power indicators throughout the system. The document explicitly states that if discrepancies exist between this summary and the full technical specifications, or if items are not included in this summary, the complete body of technical specifications should take precedence. No pricing information, contract term, bid deadlines, or award dates are provided in this specification summary document.
