About this file
This is a specification summary document for the State of Colorado's Office of the State Architect, State Buildings Program, detailing modernization requirements for passenger elevators at the State Capitol Building located at 200 East Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. The project, designated 2025-088M24, involves comprehensive modernization of the building's elevator system while preserving certain existing components. The modernization scope includes replacement of the original Otis gearless DC hoist machines with new permanent magnet AC gearless hoist machines, installation of new MCE iBox two-car group microprocessor control systems, and provision of new ReGen VVVF motor drive units with transformers as required. Additional work encompasses installation of new Hollister-Whitney governors, GAL hoistway door equipment, TLS limit switches, Elsco roller guides, new car door operators, and complete signaling systems including new main car operating panels, digital position indicators, dual hall push button risers with LED illuminated fixtures, and directional hall lanterns with "opposite elevator arriving" notification systems at each floor. The specification calls for retaining existing elements including bronze hoistway door panels, entrances, sills, car safeties and linkages, buffers, and elevator cab interiors. The system will maintain a speed of 500 feet per minute at 2,500 pounds capacity with four stops across floors marked G, 1, 2, and 3, with an approximate total travel distance of 60 feet.
The specification document functions as a technical summary and notes that it is abbreviated in nature; any discrepancies between the summary and the full technical specifications, or items not included in the summary, are to be resolved in favor of the complete technical specifications. The document does not address pricing terms, contract duration, set-asides, incumbent contractors, funding sources, or other financial and administrative details. All work is subject to compliance with current code standards, specifically A17.1 2019 standards for elevator systems. The contractor is responsible for verifying existing conditions and performing realignment work as needed to ensure smooth and quiet elevator operation.
