About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document addressing vendor inquiries regarding elevator maintenance and inspection requirements for a federal contract opportunity.
The Government clarified several critical points regarding elevator equipment condition and maintenance responsibilities. Regarding equipment integrity, the Government acknowledged one historical instance of water infiltration in the Dorm elevator pit from a building mechanical room leak years ago, with no reported damage and proper elevator operation maintained; the hoistway and carriage in the dining hall received rust prevention treatment to extend equipment life. The Government is not aware of any oil leakage in the machine room or pit. The successful offeror bears responsibility for determining hydraulic oil condition and recommending replacement. For the Dover elevator, the successful offeror must maintain existing equipment and may be tasked with proposing repair, replacement parts, or system component upgrades if obsolescence prevents restoration to operational status. Site surveys for equipment inspection and documentation review can be arranged Monday through Friday from 0730-1600 hours. Regarding testing standards, the Government specified that all testing requirements must be performed under the latest ANSI code or standard, superseding the RFQ's reference to the 17.2-1985 code and Oregon's 2010 code adoption.
