About this file
This document is a technical specification file for the HVAC and Direct Digital Control (DDC) system component of a VA Central Iowa Health Care System renovation project located in Des Moines, IA. The specifications detail requirements for a comprehensive building automation control system focusing on the Building 1 Level 1 Clinics Renovation, with specific emphasis on digital control systems, sensors, controllers, and communication protocols.
The project involves installing a BACnet-compliant control system with multiple components, including one air handling unit, one energy recovery ventilator, four variable frequency drives, two exhaust fans, thirty-two variable air volume terminal units with hot water reheat coils, two tertiary loop hot water pumps, two steam-to-hot water heat exchangers, two hot water radiant heaters, and nine electric radiant heaters. The system will integrate with the existing Metasys Building Automation System by Johnson Controls, utilizing native BACnet devices with Ethernet communication. Key technical requirements include precise temperature and humidity sensing, electronic controllers with advanced programming capabilities, comprehensive network architecture, and stringent performance standards for response times, graphic displays, and system reliability.
