`STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)
ATF National Academy 1131 Chapel Crossing Rd., Building 681, Glynco, GA 31524
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
National Academy Trainee Physical Fitness Training Equipment & Flooring
1. Background (Basis of Design & Operational Need) The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a principal law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice dedicated to preventing terrorism, reducing violent crime, and protecting our Nation. The men and women of ATF perform the dual responsibilities of enforcing Federal criminal laws and regulating the firearms and explosives industries. They are committed to working directly, and through partnerships, to investigate and reduce crime involving firearms and explosives, acts of arson, and illegal trafficking of alcohol and tobacco products. The ATF National Academy is located in Glynco, GA. The need was in response to a growing concern regarding trainee’s physical training and the lack of a consistent established program.
The Physical Techniques Division (PTD) fitness facility at ATF National Academy is located at the Federal law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Glynco, which ATF trainees use routinely during Criminal Investigators Training Program (CITP), was professionally designed and installed as an integrated system (equipment + flooring).
Through sustained, first-hand use, the ATF National Academy has determined that the capabilities, durability, modularity, and safety characteristics of the PTD facility’s equipment and flooring fully meet ATF’s operational training needs. Accordingly, this SOW adopts that facility as a basis of design and translates those proven functional characteristics into brand-neutral, competitive “meet or exceed” specifications for the ATF Academy facility renovation. Any references to that installation are for descriptive context only and are not restrictive or brand-name.
