About this file

This is a bid specification document from the State of California, Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Division of Equipment for a 6 cubic yard sander body with anti-ice and directional roll-off capabilities. The specification details the minimum requirements for an integrated roll-off skid directional sander body suitable for installation on a three-axle truck chassis, featuring a rear discharge directional spread spinner system with anti-ice liquid application and a pre-wet system. The specification number is BDYROFDSBTK53-430-261(T), and the purchase estimate number is 32-12-6685. The sander body must be constructed and assembled according to detailed Caltrans reference drawings and specifications, with all components meeting stringent quality and performance standards. The document does not specify quantities, response dates, bid due dates, site visits, bidders conferences, or award dates, as this is the technical specification component rather than the solicitation notice.

The specification establishes comprehensive technical requirements for materials, construction, and performance without specifying pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent contractors, or funding sources. All body components must be fabricated from new stainless steel with continuous welding and must meet American Welding Society standards and Caltrans Equipment Quality Standards. The unit must accommodate a minimum 6.0 cubic yard granular capacity and 900-gallon liquid reservoir while maintaining proper weight distribution and center of gravity to comply with chassis axle weight limitations. The specification mandates specific electrical components including LED lights, seven-wire SAE trailer plug connections, hydraulic systems with Parker FEM/FEC couplers, and dual control systems for spinner direction and anti-ice/pre-wet liquid application. All fabrication must be performed with precision tooling and fixtures to ensure interchangeability across units, with the State reserving the right to inspect the contractor's manufacturing facility prior to award. Technical changes are only acceptable when authorized in writing by the Department of General Services, with the contractor responsible for compliance with all referenced drawings and quality standards.
