About this file
This is an asbestos and hazardous materials inspection report prepared by Abatement Contractors of Montana for a U.S. Forest Service bunkhouse renovation project located in Seeley Lake, Montana. The inspection, conducted on December 12, 2024, involved collecting 48 bulk samples representing 16 homogeneous areas of suspected asbestos-containing building materials. The samples were analyzed using Polarized Light Microscopy at SanAir Technologies Laboratory, with testing focused on materials that will be impacted during the planned renovation.
Key findings indicate that while numerous samples were collected from various building materials including ceiling tiles, flooring, wall paneling, and window glazing, no samples tested positive for asbestos at levels above 1%. The inspection was performed in accordance with OSHA, Montana DEQ, and NESHAP regulations, with samples collected from accessible areas and previously damaged or inconspicuous locations. The report recommends that any additional materials discovered during renovation that were not specifically evaluated should be tested for asbestos content prior to disturbance, and that standard OSHA removal protocols be followed for any potentially containing materials.
