About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines requirements for providing and installing one central air compressor with air dryer/water separator at Travis AFB's KC-46 Regional Maintenance Training Facility (Building 167, Room 108) to support Advanced Hardware Training Devices (AHTDs). The system must conform to ASME Standard EA-4-2008 and California Administrative Code Title 8.

The technical specifications require a Champion model HPL20-12 20HP 120-gallon pressure lubricated air compressor or equivalent, capable of 77 SCFM at 175 PSI. The system will power a multi-drop network supplying 7 drops (3 FDATs, 1 FCT, 1 EAPUT, 1 LGT, and 1 ART) through 3/4 inch lines providing 10 SCFM at 125 PSI. Installation requirements include vibration damping, flexible hose fittings, copper or steel piping with brazed/threaded connections (no compression fittings), and a looped distribution system. The contractor must remove and reinstall T-bar tiles and attend a post-award conference within 30 days of contract award. Electrical requirements specify 480/277V connection to Panel M1 in Electrical Room 137.

KC‐46 MAINTENANCE TRAINING SYSTEM (MTS) Travis AFB Air Compressor for AHTD Support

Statement of Work (SOW)

Description:

Provide and install one central air compressor with air dryer/ water separator in conformance with ASME Standard EA-4-2008 and conforming with California Administrative Code Title 8 to support facility compressed air use for the Advanced Hardware Training Devices (AHTDs) operation and maintenance.

This system is to be installed in Room 108 of Building 167 (Travis KC-46 Regional Maintenance Training Facility) to support training and trainer maintenance activities continuously. This compressor will be the central supply device to power a multi-drop, on-demand compressed air system to support stand-by, intermittent and continuous compressed air use.

As use of these training devices is in a state of flux as the aircraft system they support is modified, the system is sized for flexibility. It must support potential future training and maintenance demands over a planned 50-year life, and those demands are assumed in this document. Assumed pressure, flow and power targets are defined to provide support for reliable service.

A compressor used at McConnell AFB (MOB 1) KC-46 MTS schoolhouse is offered as the standard to be duplicated or matched. The installation location must provide for feeding a network of air lines to supply 7 drops. One drop each are required for 3 FDATs, 1 FCT, 1 EAPUT, 1 LGT, and 1 ART. The use of ¾ inch lines will support 10 SCFM or more at 125 PSI. The compressor will be equivalent to the 20 HP compressor used for MOB1, to provide up to 77 SCFM total at 175 PSI.

Post Award Conference/Planning Meeting will take place on site at Building 167 no later than 30 days after contract award to ensure installation plan meets requirements. Establishment of this meeting date will provide for no less than 2 weeks notice in order to accommodate for travel planning of out of state attendees.

Contractor is responsible to remove and reinstall the T-bar tiles in performance of the scope

Specifications:

Compressor: Champion model HPL20-12 Pressure Lubricated 20HP 120 Gallon Air Compressor Unit or equivalent.

An air dryer / water separator is a requirement.

Vibration damping feet/springs between the compressor and the floor will be installed and a 12–24-inch flexible hose fitting from compressor to fixed metal pipes will be installed.

Maximum pressure of at least 175 PSI

Maximum continuous flow of at least 75 SCFM @ 175 PSI through a looped air distribution system. See Looped Air Distribution System Diagram.

This proposed loop will not run through bathrooms or offices and will only cross the hallway at one point. This will lessen the amount of false walls (chase) and paint needed to cover pipes. The loop system would also prevent pressure fluctuations, during times when multiple training devices are in use at the same time.

The lines will be copper type L or type K with brazed fittings. Steel or iron pipe with threaded connections is acceptable. Compression type fittings are not allowed. Ideally, pipe should be run in a looped-air distribution system, to avoid pressure drops when multiple training devices are in use at one time.

A pipe chase (painted to match the walls) must be installed in all bathrooms, offices, and hallways to cover the pipe for aesthetic purposes.

Electrical: The primary voltage in the building is 480/277V to include Panel M1.

Electrical conduit for air compressor is routed back to Panel “M1” located in Electrical Room 137. M1 manufacturer is an Eaton NEMA Type-1 EZBP2072R.

The schedule for M1 is on IFC Drawing Sheet E-612 (attached).

Compressor location:

Room 108, in the corner adjacent to rooms 128 & 106 Other options may be more suitable.

Distribution path: May change depending on final install location

Support for 3 drops in Room 128 through shared wall

Support for rooms 123, 132, 134 & 135 via hallway 100D

Compressor mounting, distribution system and drops in conformance with ASME Standard EA-4-2008 and conforming with California Administrative Code Title 8.

Contractor is responsible to remove and reinstall the T-bar tiles in performance of the scope
