About this file
This is a Technical Requirements/Statement of Work document issued by the California Department of Parks and Recreation for the Mono Lake ADA Boardwalk Materials project (BU 3790, Event ID 0000039497). The contractor is required to provide materials for the replacement of an ADA-compliant boardwalk trail at Mono Lake. The boardwalk materials must be manufactured from fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials using continuous ECR glass fiber and vinyl ester resin with non-woven polyester veil applied during manufacturing. The project scope includes 740 lineal feet of boardwalk, 6 feet in width (outside to outside), with 38mm mini-mesh decking featuring an anti-slip surface in 4-foot by 6-foot by 1.5-inch thick panels. Bull rail edging must attach flush with the outside of the decking to maintain the 6-foot-wide decking surface. All materials must be painted with a two-part fluoropolymer coating (such as Vitreflon or approved equivalent) in RAL 080-30-26 (Smoked Oak) color to comply with scenic corridor constraints and withstand the high-alkaline and UV exposure environment. Hardware and brackets must be stainless steel and provided in full to connect all boardwalk materials to concrete Diamond Pier foundations that will be supplied by Parks.
The boardwalk structure must be engineered to accommodate 20-foot spans between Diamond Pier foundations and designed for a 100 psi live load capacity due to the sensitive wetland environment. The contractor is responsible for providing all materials and hardware necessary to construct the entire boardwalk structure, with no additional pricing, set-asides, incumbents, or funding information specified in this technical requirements document.

Attachment 2 – Technical Requirements/Statement of Work Contractor to provide materials for the replacement of the Mono Lake ADA boardwalk trail. Boardwalk materials to be composed of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials and manufactured using continuous ECR glass fiber and vinyl ester resin. All structural members will have non-woven polyester veil applied during the manufacturing process. Due to strict scenic corridor constraints and high-alkaline and UV exposure environment, FRP materials must be painted in a two-part fluoropolymer coating such as Vitreflon or approved equal and must be RAL 080-30-26 (Smoked Oak) in color.
The boardwalk required is 740 lineal feet and 6 feet width outside to outside. Decking required is to be 38mm mini-mesh decking with anti-slip surface and in panels 4 feet by 6 feet by 1.5 inches thick. Bull rail edging to attach flush with outside of decking for total of 6-foot-wide decking surface.
Hardware and brackets to be stainless steel and provided in full to connect all boardwalk materials directly to concrete Diamond Pier foundation, provided by Parks, and construct entire boardwalk structure.
Due to sensitive wetland environment, spans between Diamond Pier foundations need to be 20 foot and engineered for 100 psi live load.
