About this file
This is a specifications document for a competitive vending machine solicitation issued by the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) for Pleasant Valley State Prison (Location #03-0883). The procurement requires four chilled snack vending machines and six combo snack vending machines to be installed at the facility. The solicitation permits equivalent items meeting specified quality standards as alternatives to the referenced brand names (AMS and USI Evoke models). Contractors must deliver, install, and have all equipment operational within 35 calendar days of order receipt. The specification document does not identify specific response dates, bid due dates, site visit requirements, bidders' conferences, or award dates.
All vending machines must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including ADA accessibility standards, UL safety standards, California appliance efficiency regulations, and EPA/DOE Energy Star requirements for refrigerated units. Both machine types require 120 VAC electrical service, front-accessible loading, removable coin and bill boxes, MEI coin mechanisms accepting $1, $0.25, and $0.10 coins, MEI bill validators, USAT credit card readers, and high-efficiency refrigeration. Dimensions must not exceed 80 inches in height or 38 inches in depth. The supplier must provide a two-year manufacturer warranty and perform all parts and labor at no charge for 90 days following installation, including setup, programming, training, and repairs. Additionally, the supplier must arrange removal of 15 existing vending machines through trade-in or recycling. The supplier bears responsibility for coordinating with the facility's visually impaired operator regarding machine configurations, labeling, and delivery logistics, and must identify any subcontractors used for delivery, installation, or warranty services.
