About this file
This is a technical specification document titled "Section 26 05 00 - Basic Electrical Materials and Methods" for a federal construction project at Well 10 Building 7301, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, under contract FA301025R0026 (MAHG231035). The document establishes baseline requirements and standards for electrical work across Division 26 "Electrical" sections of the project specification, referencing industry standards including NFPA 70 (2020 National Electrical Code), IEEE C2 (2017 National Electrical Safety Code), and various NEMA standards for electrical equipment enclosures and safety.
Key requirements include mandatory compliance with electrical codes and standards, submittal requirements for shop drawings and product data, quality assurance provisions requiring products to have 2 years of satisfactory commercial use prior to bid opening, and detailed specifications for electrical equipment marking and identification systems. The specification mandates factory-applied finishes meeting NEMA 250 corrosion-resistance standards, field-fabricated laminated plastic nameplates with specific dimensions and lettering requirements, polyethylene cable tags with detailed labeling protocols, and warning signs for high-voltage equipment exceeding 600 volts. Additional requirements include posted operating instructions for maintenance personnel, manufacturer nameplates on all equipment, instruction services for government personnel, and warranty support through reasonably located service organizations during the contract warranty period.
