About this file
This document is a training portfolio attachment that specifies Israel National Police (INP) certified armed guard refresher course requirements for guards at INP-guided institutions.
The refresher training occurs twice annually over two six-month periods: first half (December 31 – July 1) and second half (June 30 – January 1). Each session is one full training day with 100 rounds of ammunition per session, and wintertime training must include night/dusk firing conditions. Refresher Course A (first half) comprises 10 hours of instruction covering legal aspects and use of authority (2 hours classroom), shooting and tactics including Rules of Engagement and firearms safety (4 hours practical), physical fitness testing at session start (1 hour practical), basic self-defense drills with scenarios (2 hours practical), and miscellaneous opening/closing remarks (1 hour classroom). Qualification scoring for Course A requires passing the PFT, with final scores weighted as follows: legal aspects 20% (minimum 80% pass score), firearms handling 40% (minimum 70%), defensive tactics 30% (minimum 80%), and head of course evaluation 10% (minimum 80%). Refresher Course B (second half) also totals 10 hours and covers preventative security including suspicious indicators and anti-terror searches (4 hours classroom including a 10-question theory exam), shooting and tactics (4 hours practical), physical fitness testing (1 hour practical), basic self-defense and pepper spray refresher (2 hours practical), and miscellaneous reception/closing remarks (1 hour classroom). Course B uses identical qualification scoring weights and minimum pass scores as Course A. Middle-aged B-level guards participate in basic level refresher training but are exempt from the physical fitness test requirement.
