APPENDIX A
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Repair (Restore) Storm Water Drainage
1200 Area
TYNDALL AFB FLORIDA
PROJECT XLWU211017
2 | P a g e
Project
The purpose of the Tyndall Air Force Base (TAFB) Project XLWU211017, is to correct Flooding and long term standing water in the Storm Sewer System for the AFNORTH Complex, by repair or replace the piping, and regrade flooding areas to improve drainage.
This project will repair, replace and/or clean silted pipes, increase pipe sizes with HDPE in sodded areas, and Class 3 Reinforced Concrete Pipe under parking lots and streets. Grading of the site shall be with the intent of proving sheet style water flow to swales. High flow swales are to have concrete trickle channels on the bottom to eliminate erosion. All disturbed areas shall have 4" of top soil and sod installed to prevent future damage. The Contractor shall be responsible to bid and build all portions of the contract, which includes providing all labor, equipment, tools, materials, and all other item’s necessary to complete the project within the allotted time frame of 180 Calendar Days, starting from notice to proceed.
SCOPE OF WORK – TWO ZONES
The project will be broken up into two Zones. Zone A begins at approximately 1300 feet northwest of the Beacon Beach and Dejarnette intersection with a 4’ trapezoidal channel, and a 2’ trickle channel, extending southeast to the Dejarnette intersection. As shown above, it is primarily northwest of the AFNORTH complex. Zone A area will also serve the area northeast along Dejarnette, northwest to Bambi Trail.
Zone B

A. The area between Dejarnette and the parking lot is eroded and must be graded and 4” of top soil and sod installed. A trapezoidal channel from the parking lot entrance to L. K. Arnold Way pipe paralleling Dejarnette to the northwest shall have top soil, and no trickle channel.
At the junction of the Dejarnette Street and Beacon Beach, a 6 foot square reinforced concrete junction box shall be constructed to collect the water from the new 18”x24” elliptical pipe replacing the 15” parking lot pipe and the Beacon Beach swale. A 29” x 45” elliptical pipe shall extend from the reinforced concrete box, across Dejarnette with an end section on the northwest end. At the entrance to the Fire Emergency station, a 32”x 49” elliptical pipe shall be place under the drive, with end sections.
The sidewalk between building 1265, (325th Security Training building) and Beacon Beach shall have the pipe replaced with a 22” by 34” elliptical pipe with end sections, and the concrete sidewalk replaced. The surrounding area shall be graded such that the building 1265 finished floor is approximately 1’ above the surrounding drainage swale. The grade from the 6’ square junction box to North entrance to the AFNORTH complex shall be a minimum grade. The 4’ new flat bottom trapezoidal channel will have a 2’ concrete trickle channel except for the 22” x 34” pipe under the Building 1265 sidewalk
B. Zone B covers the areas around the complex, which includes cleaning the silt out of piping and structures on the Southeast side of building 1212, extending from the inlets, across the parking area, then connecting the two inlets and across Beacon Beach to the Southwest outlet, about 400 feet in the field.
The two area inlets appear to flow from Building 1212, across the parking lot, ending at two inlets in the retention pond. From there, the flow crosses Beacon Beach approximately 540 through a cleared area, which appears to have a pipe outlet. The size of the pipes are unknown, as water and silt cover the bottom portion of the structures.
The north and south entrance pipes to the AFNORTH parking lot will be removed and replaced with 22” x 34” elliptical pipes and end sections. The area between the entrance pipes shall be regraded to provide a trapezoidal channel, covered with 4” of top soil and sod. The bottom of the trapezoidal channel shall be slopped to the 2’trickle channel extending between the entrance pipes. The channel shall have 3 to 1 side slopes extending to within, 6 feet of the parking lot curbs and 8 feet from the edge of Beacon Beach pavement.
Additional lite site grading is needed around the three AFNORTH buildings as a result of past construction. The area graded will required top soil and sod. The site work around the retention ponds shall be graded to drain to Dejarnette through an existing silted trapezoidal swale. The existing channel needs to be cleared of brush and graded with a 4’ bottom. The disturbed areas shall receive 4” of top soil and sod.

The parking lot entrance driveway connecting to Dejarnette shall have the entrance pipe removed and replaced with a 15” x 21” elliptical pipe with end sections.
Attached drawings (Appendix B) show general locations of pipe, swales, structures and site work.
