Text version

Seasonal Employee Healthcare Program (SEHCP) and Gap Program for Yellowstone Medical Clinics Overview Certain Yellowstone National Park concessioner partners are required in their concession contracts to provide in-park health coverage for its employees similar to a full urgent care service. The concessioners may fulfill this responsibility for employees not covered by the Concessioner's health insurance program by the use of the contracted medical services provider. The concessioners are required to notify the Concessions Management Office in writing of its means of fulfilling this responsibility within thirty (30) days of the effective date of its contract. The concessioner must provide access to out-of-park medical care when necessary.

The existing medical services contract holder has initiated agreements with specific park concessioners to formalize its annual support to help assure the continued viability and availability of the medical services in Yellowstone National Park.

The concessioner’s support is provided in two parts. In the first part (known as the Gap program), a funding formula is agreed upon and documented in formalized agreements that details the term, services, support level and other relevant conditions of the agreement.

In the second part, known as the Seasonal Employee Healthcare Program (SEHCP), the concessioner employees are required to contribute to the program. All seasonal employees are enrolled and a payroll deduction accomplished. The current (2020 amount) payment is one dollar and eleven cents ($1.11) per seasonal employee per day. On April 1 of every subsequent year while the program is in effect, the payment increases by $.01.

Historical revenue of program (total of both Gap and SEHCP):

2016$1,121,162
2017$1,071,584
2018$1,193,642
2019$1,303,828
2020$ 686,620 (COVID impact to seasonal employee hiring)
