About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the Department of the Army Protocol Office's requirements for a high-speed fiber laser metal engraver. The office seeks a single fiber laser metal engraving system with specific technical specifications, including a 6-inch x 6-inch engraving area, 60 inches per second speed, 37-inch x 28-inch x 23-inch dimensions, 110V electrical requirement, and 450 CFM ventilation. The system must be compatible with the existing Filtrabox ExpandX fume extraction system and CorelDRAW software, and is intended to address a backlog of metal engraving requests from Army Senior Leadership.
The solicitation (PANAPG-25-P-0000007221) requires delivery within 60 days after receipt of order, with delivery to Mr. Augusto Alvarez, Jr. at the Office of the Chief of Staff, Army Pentagon in Washington, DC. The contract is being managed by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, with contract specialists Mallory Harris and Anielli Hipley as points of contact. The engraver is expected to improve production capability, reduce job completion time, and minimize material waste through its advanced fiber laser technology.

Statement of Work For
High Speed Fiber Laser Metal Engraver
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. BACKGROUND: The requested equipment is being purchased for the Headquarters Department of the Army Protocol office. Army Protocol requires one (1), high speed fiber laser metal engraver to efficiently support their current metal engraving workload demands. Army Protocol’s workspace is very limited and desires a metal engraving system approximately 28 inches wide x 23 inches deep and 37 inches tall. The engraver shall be compatible with the Filtrabox ExpandX fume extraction system on hand. Using the equipment on hand allows seamless interfacing with the extraction equipment Army Protocol is currently operating and offers the most cost-effective option.
1.1 AUTOMATION SOFTWARE: Army Protocol currently uses CorelD RAW software with their Carbon Dioxide (CO2) plastic engraving equipment. The software is installed on a government desktop computer, connected to the local network, and does not interfere with performing other duties and administrative tasks including email and TEAMs access. The requested metal engraver should use similar software and hardware to perform engraving.
2. OBJECTIVE: Army Protocol seeks to purchase a high-speed fiber laser metal engraving system to immediately address the backlog of metal engraving requests from Army Senior Leadership (ASL). Army Protocol prefers a fiber laser metal engraving system because it provides a better beam quality compared to CO2 lasers, resulting in finer metal cuts and smoother metal engraving. The fiber laser option also allows for deeper and faster engraving. Purchasing the new equipment will increase current production capability and reduce time for completing each engraving job. Additionally, the requested equipment will minimize material waste and make metal engraving operations more efficient.
3. SCOPE: The Contractor must provide the following items that meet the specified minimum technical requirements listed below:
(3a) Fiber Laser Metal Engraving System, (Qty = 1)
• Laser Choice Fiber laser
• Speed/Throughput 60 IPS or higher
• Engraving Area 6 inches x 6 inches (152.4 x 152.4 mm.) or larger
