STATEMENT OF WORK (SERVICES)

(SOW)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Title of Project:

NINDS Warehouse Storage and Transport of Supplies

Statement of Need and Purpose:

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Animal Health Care Section (AHCS) requires storage of equipment and supplies that have been purchased to support the future growth of its vivarium and to support changing program requirements. Due to a lack of space within the Building 35/35A Shared Animal Facility (SAF) the AHCS has an immediate need to contract off-site warehouse storage.

Background Information and Objective:

The NINDS is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducting research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders and stroke. The NINDS mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease.

The NINDS AHCS is tasked with veterinary care, management, and oversight of the Building 35/35A SAF. The Building 35/35A SAF currently houses approximately 17,000 mouse and rat cages, consisting primarily of mice. The rodents housed in these cages are used by numerous NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) to carry out their research missions. The institutes and centers sharing in this research endeavor are:

• National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)

• National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

• National Institute on Deafness and Other Communicative Disorders (NIDCD)

• National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR)

• National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)

• National Eye Institute (NEI)

• National Institute on Aging (NIA)

• National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)

• National Center on Complimentary and Integrative Health (NCCIH)

To retain NIH/NINDS’s Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) accreditation, services performed on behalf of AHCS must be in accordance with all applicable recommended principals outlined in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals; 8th Edition.

Period of Performance:

The period of performance for this requirement shall consist of a base period and four (4) option periods. The anticipated start and end dates are as follows:

Base Period: April 3, 2023 thru April 2, 2024 Option Period 1: April 3, 2024 thru April 2, 2025 Option Period 2: April 3, 2025 thru April 2, 2026 Option Period 3: April 3, 2026 thru April 2, 2027 Option Period 4: April 3, 2027 thru April 2, 2028
