About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a USDA Forest Service contract for obtaining wooden materials and hardware for two trail bridge superstructures in the Bitterroot National Forest: the Selway Suspension Trail Bridge and Warm Springs Trail Bridge. The project requires acquiring specific dimensional lumber types, including Coastal Region Douglas Fir or Larch, with precise treatment specifications according to American Wood Protection Association standards. Lumber must be treated for ground contact or fresh water use, with requirements for preservative penetration, incising, and certification from a competent lumber standards agency.
Delivery locations are specified as the Forest Service Stockpile yard "Rombo Pit" near Hamilton, Montana for the Selway Bridge, and the Sula Ranger Station for the Warm Springs Bridge. The contract mandates delivery of materials by May 15, 2026, with contractors required to provide shop drawings for government approval before manufacturing. Lumber specifications are detailed for various bridge components including stringers, decking, sills, rails, and posts, with options for treated and untreated timber from specific wood species like Douglas Fir, Larch, Alaska Yellow Cedar, and Western Red Cedar, adhering to specific grading and treatment standards.
