About this file

This document is a single source justification for a federal construction project. The Department of Veterans Affairs John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan is renovating the North and West personnel entrances. The project requires VIC Flex sprinkler heads estimated at $10,000. Standardizing on this brand reduces repair time for the critical hospital fire sprinkler system. As issues with the system could immediately endanger patients and staff, the facility provided justification for this brand name only requirement. The contracting officer certified the single source purchase is in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b).
