About this file
This document is a single source justification for the procurement of Hilti brand firestopping from a sole source for a renovation project at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. The project involves replacing the Yellow and Red entrances and requires $1,500 of Hilti firestopping, which has been the building standard for over 20 years since the original construction in 1996. No market research was conducted due to the facility's justification that only Hilti brand firestopping is acceptable as other brands would not be as recognizable. The contracting officer approved the single source justification in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b). The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 for the Yellow and Red Entrances project but provides no further details.
