The contractor must provide comprehensive medical biohazard waste management services including pickup, transportation, treatment, and disposal of regulated medical waste generated by the 482d Medical Squadron. Services include routine monthly collections of filled biohazard containers with a capacity not exceeding 96 gallons and average weight between 50-96 pounds, broken into no more than four 30-gallon containers, scheduled once per month between 0730-1600 hours at a single central pickup point (482nd Medical Squadron, Building 347, 12749 Elmendorf Street, Homestead ARB, FL 33039-1299). The contractor must also provide up to six emergency/contingency collections annually, to be completed within 48 hours of verbal notification. Pickup is excluded on federal holidays. The prime contractor must hold state registration/permits as a medical waste transporter; reliance on subcontractor permits does not satisfy this requirement. Disposal methods must comply with Florida-approved medical biohazard waste disposal procedures. Waste categories include cultures and stocks, human blood and blood products, sharps, outdated drugs, and other regulated medical waste. The contractor must provide DOT-approved, clean, puncture-resistant, leak-proof containers marked with biohazard symbols per OSHA regulations. An invoice/certificate of disposal documenting proper treatment and disposal must be provided within 30 days of each pickup. Contractor personnel must maintain a neat appearance, complete required safety and spill response training, comply with all Air Force and OSHA safety requirements including specific regulations (AFI 91-202, AFMAN 91-203, AFI 91-207), and obtain installation access clearance through background screening no later than four business days before contract start. The contractor is held professionally liable for errors and omissions during contract performance.
