About this file

Attachment 001 is a detailed specification document for a used lowboy trailer sought by the USDA Center for Agricultural Resources Research in Fort Collins, CO. The document outlines specific requirements for a mechanical detach (RGN) twin axle lowboy trailer to haul research farm equipment, including precise specifications such as a 35-ton GVWR, main deck length between 28-30 feet, overall trailer length of 48 feet, and a 102-inch width. Condition requirements are extensive, mandating that the trailer must be from year 2000 or newer, have wood decking, C-channel rub rails, minimum 4 tiedown points, flip-over ramps, and pass a comprehensive condition assessment including documentation of frame integrity, deck condition, functional lights, tire and brake pad wear, suspension components, and coupling parts.

The trailer must be roadworthy and capable of passing a Federal DOT trailer inspection, with specific conditions such as no structural rust, functional suspension airbags, intact mudflaps, and good DOT tape condition. Prospective vendors must provide photo documentation demonstrating the trailer meets all specified conditions, with allowances for light surface rust and scratched paint, but strict requirements for structural integrity, deck condition, and critical mechanical components.
