About this file

This document is a vault listing and locations reference guide for toilet facility maintenance and service locations across the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in Oregon and Idaho. The guide identifies approximately 100 vault toilet locations organized by eight geographic zones (Whitman Ranger District, La Grande RD, Joseph OR, Riggins ID North, Riggins ID South, Black Lake, Joseph OR Specialized Equipment, and Snake River Specialized Equipment), with an additional optional vicinity section for Joseph OR.

Each location entry includes estimated service frequency ranging from annually to every five years, number of vaults at each site, mileage from reference towns, and precise latitude/longitude coordinates. The document provides detailed turn-by-turn driving directions from major reference points such as Baker City, La Grande, Enterprise, Joseph, Riggins, and Council to access each facility. Service locations encompass campgrounds, trailheads, day-use areas, boat launches, picnic areas, viewpoints, and administrative sites. Notable high-frequency service requirements include Fish Lake CG (5 vaults, annually), Hurricane Creek CG (3 vaults, every 2 years), Oregon Trail Interpretive Park (4 vaults, every 2 years), and Pittsburg CG (5 vaults, annually). Specialized equipment locations requiring alternative access methods, such as Kirkwood Ranch and Pittsburg Admin Site accessible only by jet boat from Pittsburg Landing, are identified separately for unique logistical considerations.
