About this file

This is Addendum #1 to a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) for Unit #20 Roof Replacement Project at Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail. The addendum addresses a significant design and coordination issue involving approximately 30 security camera cables that penetrate a roof curb. The cables currently lack proper conduit installation and cannot be adequately flashed to meet roofing manufacturer warranty requirements. The addendum clarifies the respective responsibilities of contractors and the owner: the roofing contractor must install a gooseneck through the roof sized to accommodate existing cables, while DCR will remove the existing camera cables and install conduit above the roof level prior to flashing installation. The document also references an attached pre-bid sign-in sheet for bidders' conference attendance.

The addendum does not specify pricing terms, contract duration, award dates, or funding sources. The resolution of the cable penetration issue is presented as a prerequisite coordination requirement between the owner's security camera contractor and the roofing contractor, with the gooseneck design subject to discussion to ensure proper flashing compatibility. This clarification indicates that cable remediation work should be completed prior to the start of the roofing project to prevent delays and ensure warranty compliance.

REQUEST FOR QUOTATION

UNIT #20 ROOF REPLACEMENT PROJECT

PRUNTYTOWN CORRECTIONAL CENTER AND JAIL

Addendum #1:

Questions:

Q1: There are roughly 30 cables penetrating the side of a roof curb at the Pruntytown project. These cables are for the security cameras located on the outside walls. See attached photo.

The cables, as installed, cannot be properly flashed into the roof system to meet manufacturer’s warranty requirements. Additionally, these cables are just laid across the roof with no conduits.

Our recommendation is for the owner’s security camera contractor to disconnect all cables, install conduits and pipe supports and install a gooseneck for the cables to penetrate the roof. Gooseneck type would need to be discussed with roofing contractor to make sure the gooseneck can be properly flashed.

Is this something that can be done prior to the start of the roofing project?

A1: The contractor must install a gooseneck through the roof that is large enough for the existing cables. DCR will remove the existing camera cables and install conduit above the roof.

Clarifications:

C1: Please see attached pre-bid sign-in sheet.
