About this file

This document is a Technical Specifications file for the City of Alpharetta, Georgia, containing detailed requirements for sidewalk repair and replacement work along Westside Parkway, Kimball Bridge Road, and Clubhouse Drive. The specifications encompass comprehensive sections covering price and payment procedures, submittal requirements, quality control protocols, closeout documentation, demolition, clearing and grubbing, grading, and concrete sitework. The work includes the demolition and disposal of existing concrete sidewalks, construction of new concrete sidewalks and handicap ramps, and all related site preparation and utility protection activities. Contractors must comply with the Georgia Utilities Protection Law, provide traffic control in accordance with the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and coordinate all demolition and construction phasing with existing site users. The contractor is responsible for all erosion and sediment control measures, site protection, utility adjustments, and must submit detailed traffic control plans to the City of Alpharetta Traffic Department for approval prior to impacting traffic.

The specifications establish strict quality control standards requiring independent testing agency involvement throughout the project, with concrete compressive strength requirements of minimum 3,000 PSI at 28 days unless otherwise noted on drawings. Contractors must submit concrete mix designs for approval, maintain compaction testing frequencies based on fill type and area dimensions, and provide detailed field quality control documentation including slump tests, air content analysis, and compression test specimens. All submittals require a minimum of three copies sent to the Department of Public Works at 1790 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30009, with a minimum of seven calendar days allowed for review and approval. Payment procedures follow AIA Forms G702 and G703, with applications submitted no more than once monthly and requiring transmittal letters, updated construction schedules, and partial lien releases from major subcontractors and vendors. The contractor bears all costs associated with testing, inspections, quality control services, erosion control measures, utility protection, and site cleanup, with any debris or mud left on public rights-of-way subject to deduction from contract payments.
