About this file
This document is an Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS) Construction Permit issued by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection for a repair project at 8620 Fortune Road, Milton, Florida 32583. The permit was issued to applicant Jean Watson for the repair of an existing septic system at the residential property (Property ID: 091N270000016020000). The project scope includes abandoning an existing uncertified septic tank, installing a new 900-gallon septic tank system with a 150-gallon dosing tank, and constructing a 250 square foot drainfield. The system is designed for 1 bedroom with a maximum occupancy of 2 persons and an estimated sewage flow of 200 gallons per day. The permit was issued on January 15, 2026, with an expiration date of April 15, 2026, and was amended on February 13, 2026, to reflect a new system location. The permit number is 57-S1-5167784, with application number AP4290485 and facility ID 57-5167784. A permit fee of $55 was paid on January 14, 2026.
The permit was prepared by Charles F. Oker, a private site evaluator, and approved by Dana Grissom and Brooke Proffitt of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Key design specifications indicate that the drainfield will be configured as a standard trench system with the bottom of the drainfield positioned 46-54 inches below the established benchmark reference point. The system must comply with all applicable setback requirements under Florida Administrative Code Chapter 62-6 and must be constructed in accordance with Section 381.0065, Florida Statutes. All work must be completed prior to final inspection and approval, with additional re-inspection fees charged for any supplemental inspections required. The permit includes notes from the site evaluation indicating that large oak trees surround the property, the existing drainfield consists of mineral aggregate pipe, and lift dosing may be required due to slope and limited space constraints. The repair area is currently impacted by an existing dirt driveway, and vehicle traffic must not be permitted on the newly installed drainfield.
